Honey Pop Chair by Tokujin Yoshioka
Who said that modern furniture and contemporary furnishings should have any limitations? Validating the notion that in fact, modern furniture design knows no barriers, especially in the choice of materials, are a few examples where conventional forms are executed using unconventional materials yet all these extraordinary pieces maintain their practical demeanor.
Honey Pop Chair by Tokujin Yoshioka is made out of paper. Yes, paper – you heard it…so avoid spilling drinks or lighting candles around it. The Honey Pop Chair is built using 120 pieces of glassine paper which are glued together and precisely contoured into a multi dimensional structure which when “opened”, fashions a honeycomb silhouette, hence the namesake.

Moorhead & Moorhead Felt Stool
An investigation in structural folding, Felt Stool is comprised primarily of a sheet of felt which has been folded and riveted to create structural volume and upholstery simultaneously. In the spirit of origami, a series of folding patterns were developed, each starting with a single sheet of industrial felt. As the exploration evolved, the pattern was refined to efficiently use material and create a comfortable saddle-shaped seat. Permanent Collection, Yale University Art Gallery New Haven, Connecticut
